Soo City United never took their foot off the gas the rest of the way, dominating the second half. Sophia Fata buried two clutch goals to secure the victory.

“It takes teamwork to win a tough tournament like this one. Our goaltending and team defense was solid in all 4 games. Offensively, our team subscribed to the team game”. said Head Coach Michael Magli. “Our passing got better and better as the tournament progressed and we had goals scored from a variety of players. Our preparation paid off as well. This is a young team and it was pretty cool to see them execute and convert on some of our set pieces. I am proud of the teamwork displayed by all 18 girls on this roster.”

The team had a monster season also capturing the championship trophy at the Summer Invitational in Petoskey, Michigan. “We got solid goaltending by Taylor Viotto and Malaya Schikofsky this weekend. Only 3 goals allowed all weekend,” said Assistant Coach Scott Majic. “It was great to see the team come together for a second tournament this year. I am proud of these girls. We faced adversity, came from behind. What a finish!”

The girls squared off against Petoskey White Caps to start the tournament with Charlee Kennedy, Sophia Fata and Celina Pinelli firing goals in the 3-1 victory. The team also secured 5-1 and 4-0 victories over the Oakland Michigan National and Michigan Burn respectively.
