The Algoma University Thunderbirds women’s and men’s soccer teams have both concluded their two-game road series against the Western Mustangs yesterday afternoon in London, but they have both returned home without a goal and without a win.
In the 12:00 p.m. game at Mustang Field, the women’s Thunderbirds got blanked against Western by a score of 5-0.
Katrina Giantsopoulos led the way offensivley for the Mustangs with two goals and two assists while Kendra Marlatt found the back of the net twice.
Julia Ruffalo also had a two-point game for the Mustangs, scoring once and setting up another.
Goalkeeper Maddy Dunsmore recorded her first shutout of the season for the Mustangs while Khadyja Claxton made 4 saves in the Thunderbirds loss.
With the loss, the women’s Thunderbirds record has now fallen to 0 wins, 9 losses and 1 tie.
The women’s Thunderbirds will be back in action at Superior Heights to take on York University this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Jon Hodge, Lucas Ventura, Kairav Juta and Anthony Chrysanthou had a goal each for the Mustangs.
Mark Serjeant and Belal Halbouni both got on the scoresheet with one assist each.
Mustangs goalkeeper Kody Thomson picked up his eleventh career shutout while Kevin Picard made 12 saves in the loss.
