Women’s Thunderbirds get blanked by McMaster


After dropping a 5-0 decision to the Brock Badgers in St. Catherines back on Sunday in their final road game of the 2018 regular season, the Algoma University Thunderbirds women’s soccer team returned to Superior Heights on Saturday afternoon to take on the McMaster Marauders.

The women’s Thunderbirds got blanked for the second straight game on Saturday afternoon as they dropped a 3-0 decision to the Marauders.

Stephanie Roberts led the way offensively for the Marauders with a pair of goals.

Jade Smith had the other goal for Marauders while Hannah Chau-Stacey also got on the scoresheet with one assist.

Thunderbirds goalkeeper Khadyja Claxton made 5 saves in the loss while Jayashree Pathak made 1 save for the shutout.

The women’s Thunderbirds will conclude their 2018 regular season tomorrow afternoon in a rematch against McMaster at Superior Heights, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
