After dropping a 2-1 decision to the Brock Badgers on Saturday afternoon in St. Catherine’s, the Algoma University Thunderbirds women’s soccer team played their final road game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon in a rematch against the Badgers.
The women’s Thunderbirds record fell to 0 wins, 13 losses and 1 tie on Sunday afternoon as they lost by a score of 5-0 to the Brock Badgers at Varsity Soccer Field.
The Badgers scored all their goals in the first half of the game.
Emily Cirone led the way offensivley for the Badgers with three assists.
Forward Samantha Bayer had a pair of goals for the Badgers while Melanie Schouten also had a multi point afternoon, scoring once and setting up another.
Brianne Desa and Cassandra Stirpe had a goal each for the Badgers while Cassandra Belme also got on the scoresheet with one assist.
Emma Hendrie and Marliena Spagnolo split time in net for the Badgers victory while Thunderbirds goalkeeper Khadyja Claxton made eight saves in the loss.
The women’s Thunderbirds will now play their final two games of the 2018 season at home against McMaster University, beginning this Saturday at 1:00 p.m., followed by Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Both games will be played at Superior Heights.
