Shore Drive is now known as Rotary Parkway. The street was renamed this morning, by Mayor Christian Provenzano to mark the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Club in Sault Ste Marie.
The club has donated over $300,000 to Bellevue Park for the development of the Rotary Adventure Park, the Sensory Playground, and the new Splash Pad.
The street renaming was the idea of Melinda Mills, when she was President of the Sault Rotary Club.
Robert Carricato, President of the Rotary Club of Sault Ste Marie, says the street renaming was “very humbling,” for the club. Carricato, called the donations to the park a way of giving back to the community, saying that the community supports all of the Rotary fundraising efforts.
