Updated: International Bridge Closed Due to Falling Ice and Snow

International Bridge at Night In Winter

The International Bridge Administration (IBA) has reopened the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge with traffic escorts as of approximately 8:15 p.m.

Customers should expect short delays.

The bridge had been closed due to snow and ice falling from the arches.

The situation will be re-evaluated as conditions change. The IBA will post updates on its website, www.saultbridge.com, and its Twitter feed, @SaultBridge.

SaultOnline.com / ONNtv has learned that the International Bridge is currently closed due to falling ice and snow from the archways spanning the bridge.

Bridge webcam of the Canadian Entry Point shows no traffic in either direction Sunday evening

Line-ups on both sides of the border continue to build while waiting for conditions to improve.  Presently, there has been no official announcement from the International Bridge Administration on the closure or website.. The bridge wait times website only reports “Temporarily Closed”

The bridge was closed at 5pm Sunday. No estimate has been given because it is weather dependent.

More will be added as updates come in.
