On December 18th, 2018 officers with the Patrol Services Division of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service as well as officers with The Anishinabek Police Service and Batchewana First Nation Police Service arrested 23 Danielle Remmer of Copernicus Drive for theft of a motor vehicle.

It is alleged that just after 8:00 p.m. the accused entered a vehicle that had been left running in the area of Dacey Road and Trunk Road.  The owner of the vehicle had stopped to provide assistance at the scene of a motor vehicle collision that had occurred at that intersection.  While the victim’s vehicle was unattended, the accused, who was not involved in the collision, entered the vehicle and fled the scene heading east. The vehicle was later observed by officers with The Anishinabek Police Service and Batchewana First Nation Police Service being operated near Bar River.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the accused failed to stop and continued on driving in a dangerous manner.  Officers were able to stop the accused just north of Bar River and she was taken into custody.

She has been charged with;

  • One count of theft over $5,000
  • One count of possession of stolen property,
  • One count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle,
  • One count of flight from police, and
  • One count of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited
