Join STS to talk about planning for arts, culture, heritage, parks and recreation in Sault Ste. Marie. Are community parks and facilities meeting the interests of users of all ages and abilities, today and tomorrow? Can STS help grow the Sault’s arts and culture communities through the way they design and regulate development? How can STS recognize and protect the Sault’s heritage sites and buildings? Share your input with them on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the Art Gallery of Algoma. FutureSSM will also be attending to share information and gather input on the City’s new Community Cultural Plan. Click here for details.
New policies are also being drafted to improve and strengthen heritage resource conservation practices in four of the city’s neighbourhoods and the Downtown. STS is currently collecting stories and information from residents regarding the history of these neighbourhoods to help paint a more complete picture of their uniqueness. A separate public information session is scheduled for each neighbourhood.
To participate, the public is invited to attend the sessions on Tuesday, Jan. 29 for Monterey Gardens (at F.H. Clergue Public School) and Wednesday, Jan. 30 for Pim Hill (at the former Mount St. Joseph College).
