This Thursday January 31st, 2019 officers from The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will join approximately 150 law enforcement officers from Ontario and Michigan as they run across the International Bridge carrying the torch for the 50th, Ontario Special Olympic Winter Games that will be held in Sault Ste. Marie from January 31st to February 3rd.
Fire Services from the twin Sault’s will hoist our countries flags at each end of the border as participants run carrying the torch, from The Norris Center in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan, across the International Bridge all the way to the GFL Memorial Gardens to open the Ontario Special Olympic Winter Games.
The International Bridge will be closed to traffic for approximately one hour starting at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday January 31st in order to allow runners to safely cross the bridge. Once the runners have safely crossed, traffic will be open as usual. We ask that those who plan on crossing the International Bridge on Thursday plan for this brief disruption to traffic. We thank everyone for their continued support of Special Olympics Ontario and the athletes, with your help the 50th Ontario Special Olympic Winter Games will be a continued success.
