The low gas prices we’ve seen over the first month of the year are officially over. Most gas stations in Sault Ste. Marie hiked the cost of unleaded fuel by a whopping 12 cents a litre Tuesday morning.
The prices started to escalate Monday when McDougall Energy owned and operated stations made the first jump from 94.6 cents on Sunday to $106.9 Monday morning.
Other stations continues to sell in the 95 to 96 cents range on Monday, but today, most or all have followed suit. Petroleum analyst Dan McTeague of GasBuddy.com says that supply shortages in the US Northeast is to blame for the sudden increase. The provincial average saw prices jump 7cents a litre.Β Sault Ste. Marie prices almost doubled that.
Prices started to come down at the end of 2018 and carried over to the first 6 weeks of the year with an over supply in the market being stated as the cause for the lowest prices in about four years.
Still better than wynies 140 a liter

Just bull we are being soaked
I wonder if the price would be lower if we refined our own oil
Mike Lavictoire no it won’t. I just moved to Saint John, NB where Irving manufactures all the gasoline here and we just jumped to 104.9.
Peter Burke figures. Thanks for the info
Gas in Wawa jumped Sunday to 110.9
yes, but we were 102 Saturday, the Sault was 94 Sunday so this is quite the jump, scared to see what we are going to jump to by Wednesday π³
Was good while it lasted
You can bet McGouger energy were the first to jack the prices, it must have absolutely killed them to stop gouging for a short time.
Don’t forget that there are other options to save on fuel by taking a short drive across the river to get your gas for .88/liter (in Canadian funds)
I had noticed that Wardlaw’s was 1.069 mid Monday afternoon. Driving by the Mac’s in the west end, gas was posted at 94.6 still so I pulled in and filled ‘er right up… I knew these gas prices had to end sometime π
Thanks to Doug fraud
Duncan Janveau and true ass
@Duncan Janveau – Taxes are static – in the final days of gov’t before Trudeau took over, these price jumps were found to be related to price fixing. Unfortunately Trudeau’s govt quickly pushed that aside to instead focus on this voodoo politics.
Trudeau`s fault he`s ruins everything he touches, on purpose.
Doug Ford is not responsible for Trudeau`s B.S.
if Trudeau wasn`t actively working to destroy the energy sector Canada would be much better off.
For Duncan, everything is Doug’s fault. π
Doug fraud is directly to blame. He promised lower gas prices and he lied because he is a fraud.

Half a cent almost each day to come down. That is 24 days to come down 12 cents. The same 12 cents has gone up in less than one day. Sounds legit. Not!
