On February 3rd, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services Division of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 33 year old Mike McCourt of no fixed address for drug trafficking.
Just after 9:00 a.m. the accused was operating a motor vehicle on Gore Street near Albert Street East. Police were using the Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) and identified a vehicle that was passing by as having an owner with a suspended license.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and determined that the driver, Mr. McCourt was a suspended driver. When he was taken into custody officers located a small amount of heroin in his possession. Officers then located a set of brass knuckles, 64.7 grams of fentanyl, and a small amount of cocaine in the vehicle. The total street value of the narcotics seized was $38,820.
He has been charged with;
One count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking,
2 count of possession of a controlled substance, and;
One count of possession of a prohibited weapon.
He was held for bail court.
