The Sault Ste. Marie Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) is hosting the fourth annual MYAC Youth Art Gala on Saturday, March 2.
The gala will take place at the Civic Centre from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door with proceeds going to support the Neighbourhood Resource Centre. The event is open to all ages.
The Gala will display visual art, photography and short-films by local artists between the ages of 13 and 25. In addition, hors d’oeuvres and desserts prepared by the hospitality program at Superior Heights will be served.
“The members of MYAC continue to have a positive impact through the Youth Art Gala and the many other initiatives they are involved in that benefit local youth and our community at large,” said Mayor Christian Provenzano. “Organizing this event takes a lot of work, and I want to recognize the efforts of MYAC and encourage the community to support them by attending the gala.”
“The council is very excited to be hosting the MYAC Youth Art Gala once again this year. As one of the original members of MYAC, it has been rewarding to be a part of the development of this gala over the past four years. It has really become a popular event among local youth and an opportunity to showcase the talents of local artists and musicians, while raising funds for important local groups such as the Neighbourhood Resource Centre,” said Rob Sandvik, Chair of MYAC.
“I want to thank the members of MYAC for supporting the Neighbourhood Resource Centre,” said Constable Troy Miller, Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The centre offers the services of around 35 agencies, such as walk-in clinic, dental services, substance abuse and mental health assistance, crisis intervention and housing and poverty programming. The support we receive from our community helps us continue to deliver these services to people and further the development of a safe and healthy neighbourhood in a previously underserviced area of the city.”
