(ECHO BAY, ON) – On August 8, 2018 members from the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Sault Ste. Marie Crime Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit (FIS) commenced an investigation into several break enters and thefts.
As a result of an on-going investigation, the OPP have arrested and charged 2 males.
Matthew CYR, 18 years-old from Batchawana First Nation, Ontario was charged with the following:
- Break and enter a place – commit an indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 25, 2019 at 426 Queen Street, Sault Ste. Marie Ontario.
Braiden ESHKAKOGAN, 23 years-old from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation was charged with the following:
- Break and enter a place – commit an indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 22, 2019 at 426 Queen Street, Sault Ste. Marie Ontario.
The OPP advise the investigation is still on going.
