On Mar. 9, 2019, officers with the Community Oriented Response and Enforcement Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 27-year-old Lori Lamming of Albert Street West for theft and 51-year-old Darren MacKay for accessory after the fact.

It’s alleged on Mar. 9, 2019, the female accused attended a business in the 500 block of Second Line West. While there she was seen selecting numerous items off the shelves, then attempting to leave without paying. The value of the items totaled approximately $570.

It’s further alleged the female got into the vehicle of the male accused and he drove her to a business in the 200 block of Second Line West. While inside she selected a variety of items of unknown value and left the store without attempting to pay for them.

Officers attended the scene and arrested Lori Lamming. While in custody she was found to be in possession of varying amounts of what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl. She is charged with one count of theft under $5000 and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

The male accused was arrested later and charged with one count of accessory after the fact to the theft. Both are scheduled to appear in court on Apr.15, 2019.

  1. Sadly regardless of arrests being made the courts will just give them a slap on the wrist and away you go. The police are doing their jobs, now if the courts would do theirs, maybe crime would decrease, silly me what are the chances of that ever happening …lol…
