If you are a huge Scorpions, and in particular Uli Jon Roth fan, you are going to like what I have to relay to you.

Currently, Uli is in North America and will be performing about 50-something shows from now until the middle of May before returning back home to Europe.

The nice thing for his American and Canadian fans is that he is doing a pretty long show where he breaks it up halfway.

The first set according to Uli will consist of “Electric Sun, Sky of Avalon, Transcendental Sky, and some of my more personal classical pieces…and then after the intermission, we’re doing early Scorpions songs…like my favourites from that period including Sails of Charon, and then we’re rounding it off with some Jimi Hendrix stuff for the encores”

Behind the band will be big screens to tell the stories of some of the songs, and for the extremely serious fans, there is s (pre-show )VIP set that Uli really is looking forward to because he will be playing his Metamorphosis Concerto which is his Vivaldi’s’ Four Seasons for guitar.

When I realized that Uli has lived the majority of his life in the UK (Wales currently) but born in Germany, I have to admit that I brought up Benny Hill, my favourite comedian of all time; “wow! yeah…I think for some reason the British comedians are the best, starting with Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Peter Sellers, John Cleese, Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson) and the list goes on……I don’t know why, but there is something unique here, and yes Benny Hill is still appreciated for his work”

Getting back on the road, Uli is playing almost as many shows here in Canada as he is doing the States and he is literally crossing the country. The beautiful thing about this kind of tour is that he is playing smaller venues that will allow fans to mingle with their idols…per se. For instance, when Uli comes to Ontario, among some of the venues he will be playing are The Rockpile in Toronto and the Brass Monkey in Ottawa.

On an interesting sidenote, another German-born guitar great will also be touring North America at the same time as Uli; Michael Schenker of Scorpions, MSG and UFO fame started his tour over here in mid-April and will conclude about the same time Uli’s does in May. There will also be a few Canadian shows sprinkled in.

Both of these axe-slingers have also played the G3 (best guitarists sharing the same stage) at one point or another in their history.

If you are a Uli Jon Roth fan, a guitar fan, or a classical music fan, you are sure to enjoy his performance. Go to https://www.ulijonroth.com/tourdates for more information.

On a side note, I asked Uli to do a shout out to one of his biggest fans of all time and he certainly obliged. This is for you Rumplestilskin! .

Upcoming interviews will be with Roger Clyne (The Refreshments,The Peacemakers), and a couple of good surprises are in the works. Here is a hint for one of them …A New Revenge.
