Apartment Fire Deemed Suspicious


At approximately 5 a.m. on April 21st, 2019 the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Sault Fire Services attended a call regarding smoke filling the building at 100 James Street.

Two small fires were quickly extinguished by Fire Services. Nobody was injured however, several people were temporarily evacuated from their apartments due to the smoke.

The incident is being treated as suspicious in nature and the investigation is ongoing.


  1. There is no shortage of brainless deadbeats in the area and any one of them could have been responsible. They do have cameras there do they not? The main doors should be locked, at least at night with only tenants having a fob to get in.
