During Monday evening’s meeting, City Council will continue it’s fight to get a Level III Withdrawal Management Facility here in Sault Ste. Marie.
So far, the Sault Area Hospital has applied for the capital and operating funding needed to open a facility here, and the North East Local Health Integration Network has shown their support. The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has not yet approved this project.
Council received a presentation on this matter and passed a motion on it on Feb. 20, 2018. Mayor Provenzano then provided a letter of support on Feb. 22, 2018.
“There is a demonstrated and acute need for a Level III WithdrawalManagement facility in Sault Ste. Marie to serve it and the region,” the resolution states.
“Now Therefore Be It Resolved that City Council calls on the Provincial Government to immediately provide the approvals and funding necessary to build and operate a Level III Withdrawal Management facility and directs Mayor Provenzano to provide this resolution to Sault Ste. Marie MPP Ross Romano, the Minister of Health and Long Term Care and the Premier accordingly.”
