UPDATE: as of noon today, Petro Canada is still selling for $1.20 / litre
You may have already noticed, but gas prices have shot up again – the second time since the introduction of the carbon tax on April 1st.
On April 1st, prices rose 5 cents a litre due to the new federal carbon tax. This week, prices have gone up 9 cents due to the price of oil in world trading.
But it’s not over yet. Gas Buddy’s Dan McTeague says prices will once again shoot up when stations begin to roll out summer gas replacing winter gas at the pumps. McTeague says motorists can expect another 5 cents a litre when that happens.
Right now, regular unleaded fuel is $128.9 in Sault Ste. Marie , McDougall Energy was first out of the gate rising prices 9 cents on Tuesday. Other stations have now followed suit.
Next week, when stations begin with the summer gas , prices are expected to be in the $1.35 a litre or higher.
