Lake State Student Engineers Talk Rocketry

LSSU Student Engineers

Lake Superior State University engineering student Gibson Kramer explains how to make a simple, breath-powered rocket with kids in Tracie Osborn’s STEM class at Lincoln Elementary in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

The April 9 afternoon session was the last of six that started in March where members of LSSU’s Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) student chapter took kids through engineering concepts.

Kramer, from Jackson, Michigan, is majoring in mechanical engineering who will also graduate with an associate in general engineering.

LSSU’s student chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has been taking the car to regional SAE endurance races for almost 20 years. DeTour was one of than 40 high school teams from all corners of Michigan that converged on Lake Superior State University on April 6th at a FIRST Robotics regional competition. Kramer and Shull are both fourth-year mechanical engineering majors from – respectively – Jackson, Michigan, and Charlevoix, Michigan.
