LONDON, Ont. — Fire officials in London, Ont., say an early morning fire forced 10 international students from their home but did not cause major injuries.
Acting Deputy Fire Chief Jack Burt says the fire broke out before 7 a.m. today in a home located above a convenience store and shared by students studying at Fanshawe College.
He says a smoke alarm alerted the students to the blaze and gave them time to escape, which some did by jumping out a second-story window.
Burt says one student and one firefighter sustained minor injuries.
He says the fire caused hundreds of thousands of damage to the building and also spread to a neighbouring home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
