Rosanna Micelotta Battigelli is the latest local example of excellence in her field.

“La Brigantessa” is based on the aftermath of Italy’s 1861 Unification. Gabriella Falcone, the story’s main character, ends up in a world of trouble after committing a crime against a wealthy businessman and needs to find a way to flee the only place she has ever known.

“I know Sault Ste. Marie has a lot of Italian immigrants, and I immigrated myself when I was three. I was really excited to share this story with people from the Soo” Rosanna said with pleasing grin.

The book earned top honours in Historical Fiction, earning Gold in the Independent Publisher book awards.

Most recently, she’s been shortlisted for the Northern LIT awards. “I’ve been quite happy with the reception so far. If you like Historical Fiction, look at the reviews on google and check it out”.

The book is available through Inanna Publications, or Chapters and Amazon.
