Enthusiastic Saultites gave their throwing arms a warm up on Saturday afternoon during a bocce ball tournament and BBQ outside of Joe’s Sports and Surplus.
This event, put on by Joe’s Sports and Surplus, was to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis – a cause that hits close to home for owner Dave Edgar.
“I have three cousins that have Cystic Fibrosis, so it’s been a cause that I’ve been touched by ever since I was younger,” he told SaultOnline.
Other activities included a Northern Superior beer tent, live music and washer toss.
“(Bocce ball) is something everyone can play,” Edgar said about why they chose that activity. “You can throw it in the backyard and it kind of evens the score for everybody. Kids can play, adults can play and it’s just a fun way to spend the afternoon.”
Last year’s event took place during St. Patrick’s Day and participants played bocce on the snow. Edgar said they decided to change it up this year as a way to kick off the warmer weather.
