Female Charged with Theft and Forgery


On May 24th, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 35 year old Raya Desmond of Wellington Street East was arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft and forgery.

It’s alleged between March 1st, 2019 and March 5th, 2019 the accused made 18 transactions with two bank cards that didn’t belong to her. The total amount of the transactions were approximately $6,000.

She was located on May 24th, 2019 and arrested on an outstanding warrant. She is charged with 18 counts of theft and forgery of credit card, two counts of theft of credit card, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of theft under $5,000. She was held for bail court.


  1. And she’ll barely get a slap on the wrist. Women are given a 60% lighter sentence compared to men even with similar backgrounds, circumstances and criminal history.
