Meat the Butcher is officially open for business!

The butchery – located at 11 White Oak Dr E. –  held its grand opening event Saturday afternoon from 12-8p.m., with all food and beer proceeds going to the Algoma Autism Foundation.

Meat the Butcher General Manager Christie Albidone told SaultOnline she decided to partner up with the AAF because of the recent cuts the Ford government has made to autism services.

“There’s not enough funding for any of the organizations out here really,” she said. “We can’t just always rely on the government, we’ve got to team up together as a community and help each other out where we can.”

  1. Thank you Autism mama. Autism Ontario is amazing. It gets pushed to the side often because of its regional name. It’s a registered charity and you see where all the money goes. I’ve served on the board there in 2 cities and the people are amazing.

  2. Autism Ontario Sault ste marie is also doing amazing work behind the scene.

Fun fact: Autism Ontario Sault Ste Marie is the only local autism organization that can issue tax receipts.
