The Windsor Park Hotel has been sold and its new owner has some plans to encourage residential living in the downtown area.
Local businessman, Paul Finck will take possession of the landmark 9 storey hotel Thursday.
The hotel includes 65 rooms plus retail / office space.
The building and property was listed for well under $1 million dollars when it was put up as a bank sale just over a month ago.
Finck owns a number of rental property buildings in the Sault including MidTown Residential , a 42 unit apartment complex formerly the Norwest motel on East Street.
Finck plans to restore the building and offer lodging with studio and one bedrooms units. Meals would be offered in the banquet room.
The hotel was purchased by a Toronto based company to return the building to a upscale retirement complex. That plan never came to fruition. In 2016 it was picked up by a local investment group with ties to the Tech. That company was forced into bankruptcy last year and the hotel has remain empty since then.
No time time was given to when work would begin on restoring the building.
