Council Votes Against Single-Sourcing Municipal Audit

1
Public Open House Budget Session

After a lengthy discussion about why the city should single-source KPG to complete the municipal audit, an amendment made my Coun. Shoemaker and seconded by Coun. Scott, City Council voted to provide an expression of interest to access the Audit and Accountability Fund from the province, but not to single-source the audit.

Shoemaker’s amendment removed the second paragraph out of the following resolution in the council agenda:

“Resolved that the report of the Chief Administrative Officer dated 2019 06 17 regarding Audit and Accountability Fund be received and that an expression of interest to access the Audit and Accountability Fund be provided to the Province; further that the increased scope of work be single sourced to KPMG LLP to be fully funded through Audit and Accountability Fund.”

This means that the City will move forward with the expression of interest to access the Audit and Accountability Fund, but won’t look into single-sourcing the work to KPMG LLP.

  1. Very glad to hear that this work will not be single sourced. Thank you Councillors Shoemaker and Scott for amending this resolution and to the rest of Council for backing them.
