The Northeast Cancer Centre, in partnership with affiliated Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) sites such as SAH, is hosting the popular one-day breast screening challenge, Mammothon, on Wednesday, June 19.
Are you a woman between 50 and 74? Have you been putting off breast screening? Breast screening participation in the North East region has been declining and as a result, many more women could be benefiting from this important diagnostic test.
There are known barriers that discourage women from having regular mammography including fear (fear from the test itself and/or fear of an abnormality) and time constraints.
SAH’s Breast Screening Program invites all eligible women between the ages of 50 and 74 who meet qualifications (no previous breast cancer/no breast implants) to join the movement. Women who have had previous screens and are past due, are welcome to attend the Mammothon.
Women are invited to come to Diagnostic Imaging for their breast screening any time on Wednesday, June 19 between 8:00 am until 8:00 pm. The test itself takes 10 minutes. No appointment is necessary. Patients are asked to bring their health cards.
Those who would like more information or would like to set aside a specific appointment time on June 19 are asked to call (705) 759-3434, ext. 4709.
