On Thursday, June 20 head downtown to celebrate World Refugee Day.
From 1pm to 6pm at the March Street Stage, you can party with Refugee705, Global Friends, WUSC, the Sault Community Career Centre, Northland Adult Learning Centre, LINC school, Local Immigration Partnership, and the Downtown Association.
Enjoy some great music courtesy of Frank Gioia, grab an ice cream cone, get your face painted or a henna tattoo, and do some quilting, beading, or painting. You’ll also be able to get your name written in a different language by local newcomers and enjoy some artwork by local LINC students.
All are welcome.
Every year on June 20, people around the world recognize and celebrate World Refugee Day. We do so to honour the strength, courage, and perseverance of millions of refugees around the world who have had to flee their homes. The day aims to raise awareness of the struggles refugees face and acts as a call to action. According to the UN, there are currently more than 25 million refugees worldwide.
