ABEL, Donna May (nee Dale)


Peacefully with family by her side, Donna passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Sault Area Hospital in her 88th year.

Donna was greatly loved and will be missed by her partner Orval Hotchkiss of 46 years and Schooner, predeceased by her husband Otto Abel . Donna is the cherished mother of, Garnet Abel (Jane), Carmen Abel, Karen Abel-Kay (James) and Laurie Tromley (Ron). Donna was predeceased by her granddaughter Kristy Lariviere (Albert), son Donald Abel and daughter Shirley Vickers (Darwin) and Robert Batenchuk.

Proud grandmother of Sheri Pereira (Carlos), Robert Batenchuk (Shelly), Michael Batenchuk, Lindsay Vickers, Garnet Abel Jr. (Farrah), Betty Depape (Darwin), Samantha Dyck (Bryan), Paul Rancourt, Delray Abel, Jake Abel, Katelin Burley (Eric) , Karrie Kay, Sabrina Duguay (Dustin) and Nick Tromley. Great Grandmother of 24 and Great Great Grandmother of 1.

Dear sister of Bill Wannamaker and Terry Smith(Sandra). Predeceased by her parents Andrew and Rita Dale and sisters Glenda Zappacosta (Camy), Bernita Meunier (Luc) and Barbara Tucci (Norman).

Donna will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and extended family.

She liked nothing more than to spend time at Cooper Lake with her many friends and family. Special thank you to Carol and Dale Lloyd and Steve and Diane for all the good times and joy you brought to her life.

If you knew mom you will always remember her as she touched each of us in a different way, she had that way about her.

The family invites those who wish to attend a procession at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522) to come for 11:30 am on Friday, July 5, 2019, and join for an interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Echo Bay.

Family and friends are invited to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 (96 Great Northern Rd.) on Friday July 5, 2019 from 1 pm – 4 pm for a Celebration of Donna’s Life.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions (payable by cheque) to the SSM Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
