Sault Ste. Marie – 6 artists. 5 downtown murals. One big celebration. FutureSSM and the Downtown Association are hosting the final of five Community Mural Block this Thursday, July 11 from 5pm to 10pm on the corner of Spring and Queen Street. Official ceremony kicks off at 5pm.
Come enjoy live music, food and beverage by J. Caroline’s and LopLops, jumbo games and other programming by Fringe North and the Arts Council of Algoma.
Internationally recognized Street Artist Jerry Rugg (a.k.a. birdO) will be unveiling his mural on the East facing wall of 498 Queen St. (home of post-production company Rolling Pictures and Jorie’s Fine Clothing). While Rugg’s surreal geometric animals can be found on canvas, in digital print, and installation, he is primarily known for his large-scale mural work on walls and buildings around the world. A partnership between FutureSSM and the Sault Ste. Marie Downtown Association, the 2019 Downtown Community Mural Project consists of 5 large-scale murals in the downtown core.
