Male Charged with Impaired Driving
On July 26, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 26 year old Justin Poulin of Connaught Avenue for impaired driving.
In the late evening hours of July 26, 2019 the accused was observed attempting to avoid a RIDE program on Wellington Street West. Officers conducted a traffic stop and at that time the accused acknowledged his attempt to avoid the RIDE program.
He provided samples into an approved instrument and registered two readings over the legal limit. He is charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
He is scheduled to appear in court on September 9, 2019.
Female Charged with Theft
On July 26, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services and Investigation Services Units of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 28 year old Vanessa McKinnon of Albert Street West for theft.
On July 26, 2019 the accused attended a store in the 500 block of Great Northern Road, selected a piece of equipment valued at approximately $250 and left without attempting to pay.
Police were called and located the accused a short time later. At that time officers determined the accused was wanted on outstanding charges.
In May, 2019 the accused was asked to leave a residence where she had been staying. After she left a firearm and ammunition were found in the room where she had been staying.
She is charged with one count of theft under $5,000, two counts of careless use of a firearm, two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm and one count of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.
