The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is once again offering an Online Record Check service. The revamped option allows anyone to complete a Record Check at their convenience and eliminates the need to print and fill out paper forms.
Record checks are required for many reasons. Often people volunteering with children, seniors, and vulnerable individuals and sports teams require record checks. Employers may also ask people to provide a record check as a prerequisite for employment.
Record checks are based on names and date of births. A name-based criminal record check may not absolutely confirm a person’s identity and they may be asked to provide fingerprints to complete the records check. This is the most accurate way to confirm a person’s identity. If an applicant has a criminal conviction, they may only apply for a record check to the Police Service where the applicant resides.
Anyone who takes advantage of the Online Record Check feature will receive priority. Please visit our website to learn more about the Online Record Check process.
