2019 ROTARYFEST Take Your Pick Draw winner, Karen Benoit, purchases a ticket every year in support of Rotary Youth Projects, and this year it paid off – $75,000 to be exact. Karen chose the cash prize package in the days following Saturday’s draw.
Karen bought her winning ticket #2850 at a local Metro store. Although Karen was not present when her name was drawn on ROTARYFEST’s Stage 1, the woman who sold her the ticket was. Shouts of joy filled Clergue Park when ticket seller Linda found out that she would be receiving the $1,000 that the draw awards annually to the seller of the winning ticket.
“Organizing a fundraiser like the ROTARYFEST Take Your Pick Draw requires a lot of time and effort from so many different people,” shared Landon, Take Your Pick Draw co-chair, “It’s really nice to see how the community receives and supports our volunteers to such a strong degree. Selling the draw out early shows me that Saulites appreciate the work our club does, and it makes me proud to be a Sault Ste. Marie Rotarian.”
“It is great to see all of the volunteers that put in countless hours and the people that come down to the grounds every year to enjoy the music, kid’s activities, and everything the festival has to offer,” added Mark Pavoni, Take Your Pick Draw co-chair, “We would like to thank everyone for supporting ROTARYFEST Take Your Pick Draw and the three day ROTARYFEST.”
The ROTARYFEST Take Your Pick Draw generates hundreds of thousands of dollars each year, and proceeds have been used in the past to support charities such as Easter Seals Ontario, THRIVE Child Development Centre, No Limits Adaptive Ski Association, and to fund scholarships for local students.
