The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (DSSMSSAB) has appointed Robert Rushworth as its first Chief of Land Ambulance Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
In May of this year, the DSSMSSAB made the decision to begin direct delivery of the local land ambulance Emergency Medical Service to strengthen board governance and accountability effective January 1, 2020. The appointment of a Robert Rushworth as Chief of EMS will further strengthen the operations and the service to the region. Robert will immediately begin securing the applicable operator’s certificate and internal infrastructure to ensure a smooth transition to direct service delivery at the end of the year.
“I am extremely pleased that Robert has agreed to join our senior management team and help transition the service. Robert’s expertise and comprehensive understanding of the current service, region and community’s needs are unparalleled,” said Mike Nadeau, CAO.
A long-standing paramedic, Robert Rushworth brings over 29 years of direct EMS experience to the DSSMSSAB, most recently as Deputy Chief of EMS Operations with the City of Sault Ste. Marie.
Robert has reported to the District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board of Directors in the past and understands the needs of the service immensely. He has also worked provincially as a member of the Ambulance Service Review Team for the past 20 years.
Congratulations to Mr. Rushworth, who commences his role as Chief of EMS with the District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Board on July 29, 2019.
