Two Charged with Possession for Purpose of Trafficking

On July 6, 2019 officers with the Patrol Services Unit of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 28 year old Linda Lafreniere of Blind River and 25 year old Joshua Wilson of Farwell Terrace for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

In the early morning hours of July 6, 2019 the two accused were seen leaving the downtown area in a vehicle at a high rate of speed. Officers located the vehicle, and the two accused a short time later standing outside of the vehicle.

The Canine Unit was called in to assist. Officers found a bag containing approximately 14 grams of cocaine and brass knuckles. Officers took the two into custody.

Ms. Lafreniere is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

Mr. Wilson is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to an order.

Both were held for bail court.
