Fifth Annual Ride for ARCH Raises $15,000 for Hospice

Over 200 motorcycle enthusiasts revved their engines at Reggie’s West on Saturday morning for the fifth annual Ride for ARCH fundraiser, raising $15,000 for the local hospice.

“Everybody in Sault Ste. Marie is touched by ARCH or a family member or someone they know has passed away, so we wanted to honour their memories and we wanted to show respect and it is for a great cause,” Event Organizer Marcy Clayton told SaultOnline, talking about why this event was started.

This year’s event featured vendors such as Skin Deep Tattoos, who were doing dragonfly tattoos for the cost of $50 (the dragonfly is the symbol of ARCH), Doghouse Custom Paint, Tackle the North, Amore for Your Pleasure, Sweet Marie Leggings, Darren Emond caricatures.

The Ride for ARCH committee as well as a few others participated in a dunk cage where ONNtv’s Audrey Harrison was able to enjoy a dunk herself in support of ARCH.

Thanks to some generous donations there were also some amazing prizes and giveaways through a ballet draw, along with music from bands such as The Bearded Lounge, Boneyard, The Dell Bros, Flathead Ford, and SoundCheck.

Greg Simpson, who’s on the committee for this event and also part of The Bearded Lounge and Boneyard, told SaultOnline he thinks this is an important cause to be a part of.

“This is a great event,” he said  “This is for people at their end of life; (ARCH) gives them comfort and it’s people like us that actually keep that place running.”
