Full Investigation into McNabb St. Fire Could Take 4-6 Weeks, OFM Says

The Ontario Fire Marshall held a second press conference on Thursday in regards to Wednesday morning’s fire on McNabb St.

Although no cause has been determined as of yet, OFM James Allen said there are people on site – including the Forensic Engineer from the Office of the Fire Marshall, the Technical Safety Standards Authority, and Enbridge Gas – who are looking at the natural gas services and natural gas appliances inside the building.

“Part of the Origin of Cause investigation is once we determined that the origin of the deflagration was in the North section of the building, we have to look at all potential causes,” Allen said in a media scrum. “So we’re looking at all potential causes in this building at this time.”

Allen said this process is done systematically to ensure they don’t rule out any possible causes. This means the next steps in this investigation could take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to complete.
