Boy, 9, among three killed in head-on collision in Bradford


BRADFORD, Ont. — A nine-year-old boy was killed in a head-on collision in Bradford, Ont., along with two other relatives, after police say a heavy truck collided with an SUV late Friday afternoon.

The South Simcoe Police Service says the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on Yonge Street south of 14th Line.

The victims were in an SUV heading northbound when it collided with a heavy truck heading southbound.

The boy’s father, a 37-year-old Newmarket man, was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. The man’s 61-year-old mother from Barrie also died at the scene.

The nine-year-old boy, who was also in the vehicle, died of his injuries in hospital.

Police say the driver of the truck was treated at the scene and released.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

No names were immediately released and there was no word whether any charges were pending.
