Sault Ste. Marie, MI — Sanderson Field Airport (ANJ) will be hosting a night of family fun on Friday, September 27, 2019 with a community movie night and open house. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., attendees will be able to tour airplanes and emergency vehicles owned and operated by local pilots, the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Border Patrol and Customs, the Sault Ste. The main event will take place at 7:00 p.m., when the airport’s largest hangar will be converted into a theater for a showing of the movie Small Foot.
This is the airport’s third annual “Open House & Movie in a Hangar.” Each year, the event is sponsored by the Soo Pilots Association EAA Chapter 1437.
“One of the highlights of this event is the kids,” says Jack Wartella, EAA member. “It’s a really fun time for the families and for all of the staff. We encourage parents to bring cameras so they can get photos.”
The cost of attendance is $5, which includes concessions during the movie. Guests are advised to bring camping chairs and blankets for the showing.
“Sanderson Field relates to the community in so many ways,” says Kim Sillers, EAA member. “This yearly event gives us an opportunity to showcase airport operations and give back to the community.”
