October 5th & 6th, 2019 – Sault Ste. Marie – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces Dry Training Exercise Northern Tiger One
The 49th Field Regiment Sault Ste. Marie is advising that they will be conducting a training exercise in the area on October 5th and 6th called Northern Tiger One. If you happen to see soldiers carrying service weapons, there is no cause for alarm as there will be no ammunition used during this Dry Training Exercise.
The 49th Field Regiment in Sault Ste Marie, ON will be conducting an exercise in the area of Pointe Des Chenes Park and Runway Park Training/Racing Facility. Approximately 50 Army reservists from 49th Field Regiment will be involved in the exercise. The purpose of this exercise is so that soldier can practise their tactics and drills prior to conducting a live fire exercise at a later date in a separate location. The public is advised that they will see military vehicles travelling in groups during these dates that include Pine St North of Wellington Ave, 2nd Line East/West and Airport Rd. The unit will conduct training with weapons and will include the deployment of 105mm Howitzers. There is no ammunition being used during this exercise.
Motorist are asked to be cautious as the unit will travel in groups on public streets.
Residents should be advises that the soldiers will be carrying service rifles and support weapons but there will be no ammunition used.
The public can expect to see the unit travelling and setting up during the hours of 0800 hrs and 1900 hrs on October 5th and 6th 2019.
