Make a Difference and raise your mug to raise funds for local programs and services
Coffee Break®, the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma Districts largest fundraiser, is back for its 24th year! As part of World Alzheimer’s Month, Coffee Break will be starting on Thursday, September 19, 2019.
Host a Coffee break at Home or at Work!
In exchange for a donation, participants enjoy a cup coffee while catching up with friends, colleagues, and neighbours. A Coffee break can be held anywhere and for any length of time.
To register your Coffee break call Bea at 705-942-2195 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and a kit will be delivered to you with a coin box, and promotional material. It’s an easy and fun way of supporting people affected by the disease.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters in Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District, this event raised more than $65,000 last year. Funds support local people living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia, as well as their care partners and family members. Funds raised will support much-needed local programs and services such as Family Support, Education and Recreation Therapy.
“Right now, there are more than 2900 people living with dementia in our community who depend on our programs to live as fully as possible with a dementia,” says Terry Caporossi at the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District. “This number doesn’t include all of the family members who care for them, and the demand for our services continues to grow each year. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible so we can continue to provide and expand the support we provide.”
The Alzheimer Society also encourages local residents to put their creative ideas to the test and host their own Coffee Break events or other fundraisers by using our do-it-yourself event platform called Anything for Alzheimer’s at alzgiving.ca/anything. It’s simple to use. Once they register their event, they will immediately receive a customized web page with a unique link to share and promote their fundraising event.
Together we can all make a difference one cup at a time.
