Neve Campbell developing ‘topical’ drama series for AMC

TORONTO — Neve Campbell is eyeing a return to television.

The former “Party of Five” actress says she’s just sold a drama series to AMC that she would produce and star in.

She says the project was created with “Will & Grace” writer Jeff Greenstein and that the duo have already mapped out six seasons. The Guelph, Ont.-star is tight-lipped on details, but says the subject matter is “most definitely topical.”

The “Scream” star’s TV roles have largely involved cameos and recurring parts of late, including stints on Netflix’s “House of Cards,” NBC’s “Welcome to Sweden” and AMC’s “Mad Men.”

Until now, Campbell says she’s refrained from committing to a new series while raising her two sons. But if the AMC series goes ahead, she says the plan would be to shoot in New York where she lives.

Campbell made the comments while promoting the Canadian opioid feature “Castle in the Ground,” which made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last night.

“We just delivered the whole package, the pilot and the package, the outline for the six seasons and now it’s just up to AMC to decide,” Campbell said Thursday.

“It’s a big development process over there.”

Campbell added that the AMC project is one of several potential ventures that could bring her back to the small screen: “You can’t just put all your eggs in one basket.”
