Look out Sault Ste. Marie, things are about to get freaky! For the second year in a row The Rocky Horror Rainbow Camp Fundraiser is a go!
Rocky Horror Picture Show was filmed in 1975. In the movie, alien Dr. Frank’n’Furter plays host to a newly engaged couple, Brad and Janet, who have a flat tire, and while he offers them a little bit of hospitality, he also shows them a side to life that robs them of their innocence. The two meet a host of “interesting” characters along the way.
The fundraiser will be “Shadowcast” which is the way this cult classic is shown across the world at this time of year. The film will be shown behind actors onstage re-enacting and enhancing the film as it plays. Included with the price of a ticket is the “prop bag” containing all the things needed to bring the audience into the fun. Have a blast while you throw rice at the wedding scene or squirt your seatmates with a water gun when it rains in the film. Transylvanians will be on-hand to show you how and when to use your props.
The show features a host of incredible talent. Newly returned to the Soo, Jarrett Mills will be playing Riff-Raff; Kara Colynuck is a must-see as the sultry and wicked Magenta; Melissa Johnson will have her first shot at playing the super sequined Columbia; while her sister, Christina Foster will be the innocent Janet Weiss. Steven Johnson will be trying out the stage for his first time as Brad Majors; John Dedes will be reprising his role as the Criminologist, and Lucas Beaver will also be returning as Doctor Scott. Whisky Barrel owner Dunbar Thompson will be the newly minted man – Rocky himself. Eric Haapala’s performance as Dr. Frank’n’Furter is seriously not to be missed. He rocks a 5-inch heel like few can in Sault Ste. Marie. Many others round out the cast as Transylvanians, singing and dancing their hearts out.
The show will take place at the Machine Shop at 8:00 on Saturday, November 9th. Tickets are $30.
As the event is a fundraiser for Rainbow Camp, tax receipts will be mailed for every $20 spent!
