Abduction suspect Ian MacDermid spotted in Niagara Region in red Toyota Camry

Police in southwestern Ontario say a father suspected of abducting his five children has been spotted in a red Toyota Camry.

Niagara Regional Police say Ian MacDermid was seen somewhere in the Niagara Region at 5 p.m. Tuesday in a 2002 Camry with the Ontario licence plate number CJMB 976.

They say the children, who are between the ages of five and 14, were not with MacDermid at the time.

Police issued — and later cancelled — an Amber Alert on Tuesday, but say the children are still missing and the investigation continues.

The initial police statement said MacDermid was believed to be driving a gold or beige pickup truck.

The 49-year-old MacDermid is described as a white man, six feet tall and 280 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair.
