City Reminds You To Keep Catch Basins Free of Debris

As residents begin winter preparations, the Public Works and Engineering Services department would like to remind residents to keep catch basins clear and free of debris.

Staff are sweeping and cleaning basins and storm drains in preparation for the flow of water during the winter months. Residents are not to rake leaves onto roadways or into ditches as they cause drains to plug resulting in flooding. Take caution when near drainage systems and ensure children and pets stay away from hazardous areas.

Bi-weekly collection of leaf and yard waste is provided by the City of Sault Ste. Marie. For more information, visit or call 705-759-5201.
The City of Sault Ste. Marie thanks residents for their cooperation.
