Screams filled the air Friday evening as Saultites came in hordes to experience the haunted corn maze at Mockingbird Hill Farm.

This year, the maze has been invaded by aliens, as well as monsters with chainsaws ready to chase maze-goers unexpectedly.

“Every year is a different theme, but this year’s was picked for me,” Farmer Bob told SaultOnline.

“I woke up one morning and I found the alien flag put up in my front yard…and then the day we went to cut the design into the maze, we found it was already there,” he explained.

“It was an alien with cryptic crop circles; and there we went.”

Farmer Bob said the Haunted Corn Maze is the biggest weekend of the year for him, but he enjoys every minute of it.

“I like the energy that is created,” he said, “and we provide some of the stimulus, but it’s mostly the crowd that brings their own stimulus – they’re excited, they’re happy, they make a lot of noise in there – it’s a good night.”

If you missed out on the maze Friday night, you have one more chance to check it out tonight from 7-11 p.m. Admission is $13 per person. Everyone entering the Corn Maze in the dark is required to have a flashlight; if you don’t have one, you can buy one at the gate for $4.
