HALIBURTON, Ont. — Police say a person who was reported missing near Haliburton, Ont., earlier this week has been found dead.
Ontario provincial police say they were called to investigate a missing person case in Algonquin Highlands on Tuesday night.
They say officers patrolled Highway 35 and the surrounding area, but it was a relative who found the missing person’s truck submerged in nearby Kushog Lake.
The OPP underwater search and recovery unit then found the missing person’s body inside the vehicle.
Police continue to investigate and say the body was taken to the Ontario Forensic Pathology Unit in Toronto for an autopsy.
The name of the deceased has not been publicly released.
