New “Boomer” to be unveiled Friday evening at the GLC


Algoma Thunderbirds Basketball Teams Tip-Off against Windsor Lancers On Friday for Last Home Games Before Holiday Break

After an exciting overtime victory last weekend against the nationally-ranked University of Ottawa Gee Gee’s, the Algoma U Women’s basketball team is eager to hit the home court again this weekend to take on the Windsor Lancers in OUA regular season action!

Excitement is building as the Thunderbird Athletics Department prepares to “unveil” Algoma U’s new and improved BOOMER during the opening night of the weekend series- check out the teaser here!

“We are excited to build off of last weekend and to help keep motivation high as we approach the end of November,” shared Director of Student Experience Dave Trudelle. “ Our mas cot, Boomer, returns from his development camp new and improved! You won’t want to miss the chance to meet the new Boomer and cheer on your Thunderbirds in the last home weekend of the fall!”

The final weekend double-header of 2019 takes place on Friday and Saturday evening at the George Leach Centre (GLC) located on Algoma’s Sault Ste. Marie Campus. Tip-off for the Women’s game is at 6:00 PM followed by the Men’s match-up at 8:00 PM.

Come cheer on the Thunderbirds in what is sure to be intense and entertaining games. Fans are encouraged to support Algoma’s winter clothing drive, with admission by donation of new or gently used winter clothing items.
