MILTON, Ont. — Police west of Toronto say a woman has been charged after allegedly dealing drugs inside a courthouse jail.
Halton regional police say they learned about the alleged trafficking on Monday after the suspect’s cellmate overdosed on what is believed to be fentanyl.
Officers at the Milton courthouse were able to revive the woman after administering naloxone, and she later recovered in hospital.
Investigators allege the suspect was able to get narcotics inside the prison by concealing them before her arrest.
The 34-year-old from London, Ont., has been charged with drug trafficking.
Police say she was already in custody awaiting a bail hearing for charges including possession of a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime.
