Are you looking for a way to make a difference in Northern Ontario? Northern Policy Institute’s (NPI) Experience North is now accepting applications to welcome vibrant youth to join its team this summer.
NPI’s Experience North summer placement program is geared towards data and policy oriented students looking for crucial hands-on experience. The program helps young professionals build capacity through partner relations, learn first-hand about the cut and thrust of public policy debate, and allows placements to give their perspectives and fresh ideas on how to support the growth of sustainable Northern communities. These 16-week placements run from May to August of 2020 and are located at host organizations across Northern Ontario.
Each summer placement receives a project that they will work on throughout the summer following NPI’s mission to engage local communities and provide evidence-based analysis for effective decision making in Ontario’s northern regions. At the end of the summer, placements will have developed research and analytical skills as well as a stronger understanding of issues facing Northern Ontario.
“As an international development student, I am fascinated with community-based social and economic growth. Experience North was an opportunity I couldn’t pass. I was able to publish the research I worked on, and I also created many community connections along the way,” Hilary Hagar, 2019 Experience North placement.
NPI is offering eight Experience North opportunities this year:
- Haileybury – Data Analysts (2)
- Sault Ste. Marie – Data Analysts (2)
- Marathon – Policy Analysts (2)
- Sioux Lookout – Policy Analysts (2)
